July

Just about everything happens in July this year...alright, I'm exaggerating, but a lot of things are happening. You've got the fifth Harry Potter movei, the seventh book, some birthdays, and my aunt's book. ^-^ Oh, and the third and final book of Inheritance (Eragon Triology). But check out 'The Feedsack Dress' by Carolyn Mulford come July.

1st Person

Trees surround me,
As I walk home.
The sun sets
In the far horizon.
Animals scamper
To get home before dark
Nocturnal animals
Come out to
Enjoy the night.
The forest is
My playground
And where I learn
About the nature and Animals around me.

Missouri has a lot of farmland and agriculture is big, but there are also many cities with buildings. One of these cities is Columbia. I think Columbia Missouri is a nice place to live. Though there are not many trees or wooded areas as much as there are in other places, there are nice big oak trees that are fun to climb in. Also, there are a lot of gumball trees where in autumn the spiky gumballs will fall of and children will gather them before the bus would come. I would sit and watch my siblings gather the gumballs and toss them into the streets in the hope that the bus would run over them and get a flat tire, which of course never worked. Yet, it was fun to do all the same. at that time, my bus stop was my driveway and there were two bus stops on my street. My street was also on a hill, which made it fun for riding bikes, but not for mowing the lawn. There are many Duplexes in Columbia, and one of my best friends live in one across the street from me. Once in school we each got a red Dogwood tree and were todl that the tree was the state tree. My grandpa took me up to his farm and helped me plant it, yet there are so many trees there, we are not sure if it survived. All of Missouri was nice, but Columbia will always be home for me.

Deserted Island

You will be stranded on a deserted island for 10 years. You are allowed to bring one each of the following: Book, Movie, CD, 1 clothing item, 1 case of a food, photo. Please explain and defend each decision in approximately 100 words each.

Book- If I could pick one book, I would choose ‘The Lone One’ by my friend. I would choose this book because if I were alone all those ten years with out being able to talk to him, I would want to have something to remind me of him. Plus, I have really enjoyed his story so far, and wish him luck on getting it published one day. It is really interesting is about my all-time favorite animal: wolves. So it would definitely be the book I would choose.

Movie- If I could pick one movie, I would choose ‘Blood and Chocolate’. It is a very interesting movie based off the book by Annette Curtise Klause. It is about werewolves or ‘Lugarine’ that are in a new place so that they will not be hunted. I really enjoyed watching it with my best friends and would not mind watching it again.

CD- If I could choose one CD to have on the island, I would choose the mix CD that my best friend Seshy made for me. It has a lot of my favorite songs and it would keep me entertained. Some of the songs are ‘Cupid’s Chokehold’ ‘Famous Last Words’ by MCR, a few Evanescence songs, some Linkin Park, and some Fall Out Boy. There are also a lot of other songs. Another good thing about the CD is that the types of songs are a mix. There is some rock, some hip-hop, some of anything to appeal to my mood.

One Clothing Item- I would like to have my Old Navy sweater. The reason I would choose that is because I got it from my grandparents during my last Christmas in Missouri. So the sweater would remind me of them. And that alone would keep me happy. I love my grandparents a lot and wish that I could see them more than I get to. But going ten years with out seeing them would be complete torture.

One Case of Food- If I could choose one case of food, I think I’d have to have steak in it for sure. Along with some of my favorite fruit like watermelon, strawberries, and bananas. But steak is my all time favorite food. I do not think I could ever last ten years with out having a piece of steak. And as long as there is supplies to make a fire, it is not like I would have to eat it raw.
One Photo- If I could choose one photo, the photo I would choose the picture of my Shetland Sheepdog while he has a tennis ball in his mouth. He was my best friend until he died on Friday the 13th on my best friend’s 13th birthday when I was thirteen and he was thirteen in human years. We did dog shows together and I really miss him a lot. On our last dog show, he did almost everything perfect and we won first place. It was almost as if he knew that he would no long be appearing in any dog shows.
